"Wonder of wonders, this native New Yorker's debut CD sounds legitimately more jazzy than folky--smack-dab in the Laura Nyro/Ricki Lee Jones/Sophie B. Hawkins lineage, complete with sax solos warm enough for Baker Street and titles that namecheck Ab Fab and Dorothy. . . . Tell Auntie Em and Toto, too; Oz never did give nothin' to the tin man that he didn't already have."

Ah...what a terrible blogger I am! I'm about to fly to LA for a fun, musical week. (See sidebar for shows in the West Coast). If you want to know the very latest of what I'm up to, follow me on twitter!

I'm currently in the studio working on the new record with Michael Leonhart. So far, it's been a really terrific process and I'm very excited about where things are going. Nothing is finished yet, but hopefully I'll be able to share something with you soon. Rumour has it that there's going to be a New York screening of 5,000 Miles From Home. I'll share the details when I know more.

It's been an eventful summer, and I've kept surprisingly busy, in spite of breaking my ankle in July! I'm currently in the studio recording music for the documentary 5,000 Miles From Home which I composed with JoAnn Robertozzi. The film will be shown in the Italian American Veteran's Museum in Chicago. I can't wait to share some of the songs with you! JoAnn and I have also been doing some research for a musical theatre project about the Triangle Shirt Factory Fires. There are some shows coming up in the ny area....see the gig page for more infomration!

Hello everyone! Just a little update for the summer....I'm busy working on material for the new record. A lot of interesting changes are happening, both in terms of some of the newer songs I've written and in terms of what material I'm chosing to record. More details about that soon. I'll also be involved with the Fringe Festival this summer, as Musical Director and arranger for the show KNB: The Musical, written by Christopher Carter Sanderson. When we have our performance times, I'll put them on the site. In the meantime, I hope you're keeping cool and enjoying the summer! xxoo, Allison

Happy New Year! I'm not a very reliable blogger, but rest assured, the past several months have been busy! 1918:A House Divided was very successful and received terrific reviews. The Original Cast Recording is nearly finished and will be available very soon. Details forthcoming. :) I've been writing lots of new songs and have contributed a song to Barbara Kahn's newest play, Ghosts of 14th Street. I've also been singing with Petra Haden (show at the Knitting Factory 2/28) and planning some other projects for the Spring and Summer. Hope you're having a terrific 2008. More soon!

OK. So I'm the worst blogger ever! I'll make a resolution to fix that in a couple of days. In the meantime, here's what's shakin'...

I'm thrilled to report that my tune "Spinning Song" won Second Place in the First Annual Indiegrrl Song Writing Contest! I'm in pretty fabulous company, with artists like Brazz Tree, The Divine MAGgees and Rachael Sage. Wowzers.

Also, on the gig page you'll see the performance schedule for 1918: A House Divided, which goes up at Theater for the New City in April. It's my first musical, and I'm pretty darned excited!

Have a fantastic New Year!

Hope you're having a terrific summer! Rhonda and I had a fab tour of the midwest back in April. It was great to meet so many new friends! My summer is shaping up quite nicely, with some interesting creative projects. In particular, playwright Barbara Kahn has asked me to compose the music for her upcoming musical! I'm extremely excited to have the opportunity to work with BArbara, whose work I've long admired, and look forward to sharing more details with you soon!

Wow have things been busy! In exactly a week I'll be getting on a good ol' Greyhound bus, making an extremely glamorous 17 hour trek to Cincinnati to kick off the East Meets Midwest Tour with Rhonda Everitt of pale beneath the blue. I hope to see a lot of you while I'm out there. If you live near one of the cities where we're performing and would like to help us promote, you can download our tour flier here!

Greetings!

Lot's of exciting things are happening. On Monday, I have my very first show at the fabulous Rockwood Music Hall. It's a full band affair and we hope you can join us!

Also, next month, I'll be making my first trip to SXSW! I'll be performing a set in one of the Invasion of the GoGirls showcases, and trying to soak up as much of the excitement as possible! This showcase is free and doesn't require a badge or wristband, so if you're in Austin, come say howdy!

Finally, plans are under way for a tour of the Midwest and Northeast with Rhonda Everitt of the band Pale Beneath The Blue. See Upcoming Shows for dates confirmed thus far. If you're in any of these parts of the country and would like us to play a show near you, drop me a line!
